A one month trip to the Philippines has left me with a lot of memories and adventures that I never dreamed of obtaining. I say the Philippines, but I had a one day adventure in Japan as well. For an expensive flight you get 4 tickets or 2 tickets (in other words midway stops), and for the kind of ticket up my alley you will receive 8 tickets :D 4 layover airports each way ; ehh not bad I thought to myself as I looked at the price of 849 bucks. In comparison to a 1000 dollars, a few layovers was gonna be nothing.   I ended up spending 2 days on a plane, with no regrets- hey I saved a 100 bucks or so! Surprisingly, the best food was served on the Japanese airline, and a mini plane that gave me an hour flight from Guam to the big island in the Philippines. The main island looked gorgeous as the plane went low getting closer and closer to the earth. Glistening ocean and tiny islands, fishermen on their pontoons, and lush rain forest patches intermingled with the city. When we came upon...

Something something.. anything

A random dribble of coffee on the table, a speck of pigeon feed on the cement, a quiet murmur in a tea room occupied by dainty ladies...   Whereas in my reality a swirl of discombobulated thoughts funneled themselves into a land called mess of insania. . .

Are you a horseradish, or a jalapeno?

The horseradish, a small ambiguous plant in the food industry, holds only surprise and astonishment to it's new candidates. Horseradish is an acquired taste, sweet and deceptively calm until it's true colors are revealed. A burning hot fiery spiciness that refuses to leave, and masks everything else in it's wake. A jalapeno on the other hand, tells your tongue how hot it is.. immediately after you bite into it. You don't have to wait to find out, you know as soon as you taste it.   With horseradish, you don't know until it's too late that you should have taken a smaller bite. No choice now! With Jalapeno, you have the split second choice of spitting it out - no questions asked, you know how hot it is. In life, which do you prefer? A person who has multiple masks, or a person who doesn't own a mask at all? Sometimes culture will be the winner of the day, as well as  peer pressure, and they can create innumerable masks for the people held underneath them...

An age has past, I write at last!

Yep, an age has past. Truth be told I haven't opened this blog for a good several months. It sat here in cyberspace, waiting for my return. 5 months maybe? .. no.. probably more. I've been studying more about how you say mundane stuff like this in other languages, than I have been in English  ;) I've trucked through a bunch of jobs this year.. Delhi cashier,  boat cleaner, varnish work at the boat harbor, private varnish contract, caregiver, English conversation partner.. and then finally.. and luckily.. where I am now - electronics builder . It's perfect. I'm glad I don't have three part time jobs again. I still have plenty of goals to accomplish, and I never planned to stay in California for very long. . and yet here I am. I studied hard, got my English teaching certificate, only to realize that the job market is very difficult. Somehow, It doesn't perturb me, nor disturb me, it's just a fact. Facts are facts, you just work around them. That's the ...

Trial by fire, making it back into the pan XD

Well, after all the incredulous things that happened today, what better way to end the day then to summarize! Just a few smoky whispering thoughts that caught my attention today, a realization that could be compared to putting antiseptic on a wound. Like the clouds opened and a beam of sun hit the ground in front of me. That kind of thing ya know.  First half of the day, the fire was just getting kindled, and in reality, I hadn't even fallen into the pan XD I enjoyed life, drank coffee, reflected, and listened to some music. Of course, (and why would it be THIS DAY???? !!) on my way to work I became dreadfully sick. So sick, my boss had said I was turning pale. "What the????!!" I thought to myself, a mere 20 min could change my outlook for the rest of the day so quickly! :O It took me a few head bangs against the wall to realize that it was food poisoning. :P In the end, it was literal torture. And now, by this time, I was really cooking in that pan.. And yet despite fe...

Poem

Hey, can you believe it? IT'S MEEEE! after being unwritefully regretful about not writing on this wee blog of mine, I have come back to the war of key typing to post a poem! HAH Yes, amazing right? here it is, in all it's unadorned, unfashionable glory, :)                       Bittersweet vengeance  The leaves are falling, The rosebuds are dead, My life soon is leaving, With a bullet made of lead. My loved one has fallen, By hands of evil ones, By the brigands of Raulin, Who killed his own sons. Yet loved one I must heed, I must stay for yet awhile, To kill Raulin of foul breed, Detain him to eternal exile. My dirk stays by my side, Awaiting the battles tide. My shield is in my right, To subdue his power and might. “Cruel and foul Raulin, I shalt crush thee, And of thy brood I shall be free!”              ...

A look into life

Sometimes, there is an emptiness, one simply cannot fill. You try to fill your cup, but there's a leak in the bottom, and all your hard work drips onto the floor. Finding a way to fix the leak, to fill the emptiness can be a very long process for some. Finding the strength to move on, and determination to find and fulfill you dreams can be challenging. Being estranged or outcast, can lead to loneliness.   But finding good friends, reliable, trustworthy friends, that inspire and keep you going can help patch things up. Your reasons for doing and living can be renewed and looked at in a different light. Yeah, life is like a freight train you get smashed by, you can't stop a train, but you can figure out a way to avoid getting flattened.   When opportunities are given, and doors are slightly opened, pull all of them open and see what could lie ahead for you. You don't have to do only one thing, you can do many. Do many things, and be many things.  If there's a...

Reflections of the past

Sometimes you only truly understand somethings value when it disappears. You've lived with it for so long you have forgotten to be thankful that it was even there.     The human mind doesn't want to acknowledge death, but it still exists. Its very real when the person your close to suddenly dies. Somehow you forgot how it was like to live without them, and now you have to. Saying a farewell for a lifetime is hard no matter how you look at it. You wish you had done more things with them, maybe even prevented the cause of their passing. All you've got are the memories you made together and the impact they made on the world. They are whisked away, and no way to know when they are taken. Sometimes it takes years for the pain to fade.  Enjoy the time you have with people, you never know whats around the corner. Cherish them, and make good memories together. Life is fleeting but how you take the world on changes the outcome. Live life to the fullest!

Summer

Well everyone... it seems like summer is on it's way!   But for some, it may be snowing.. or hurricanes for that matter!    Main point is, if your not on the opposite side of the globe.. the season coming up is nice!   The hardest thing about summer, is making sure you don't squander the great weather and time off!  I find this the hardest thing to do. But this summer, I intend to do better!   Have a nice not-quite-summer!

sandpaper

Sand paper, a microscopic phenomenon, small, rarely looked at, and yet used so often.    Tiny glass shards are adhered to a piece of durable paper. Amazing... sheer amazingness.      It works great!       There you go. Sandpaper. I use it to sand kitchen stools, sand carved pieces, and do varnish work. Great useful practical stuff. Not exactly cheap, but not exactly expensive.    Anyways, SEE description if you ran into something you didn't expect.     See ya.

A lazy summer day

Sundays, a peaceful snooze day or perhaps a delicious dessert with chocolate and bananas. Most of the time you might wake up late, snag some coffee and go about having a nice relaxing day at home. Some make HUGE plans that they intend to fulfill  that particular day. Others decide that it's better to not procrastinate and decide to do homework during daylight hours only to nocturnally party...    And some feel like they still don't have enough time to breathe. I gotta do this, I gotta do that!    What it all boils down to, is that School, and whatnot, give you two days on the weekend for a REASON!    Spend your time wisely, but don't fret about Monday, because how much worrying has ever made things any better?           Have a nice Sunday!

What in the world?

So, you feel like life is a newspaper, all laid out and ready to go. You grow old, you have fun, you die.     Nothing is very spontaneous for you at the moment, you wish it was, and it isn't, just plain boring bread and  cheese no Nutella Peanut butter banana sandwiches for you!   If you loose your sense of insecurity with finances, you'll find that you can allow yourself more freedom as to your life! If you don't take risks, there's not much fun and adventure with the risks you don't take. "I'll take some risks, with some milk and cookies please! And serve it on a nice large platter with some ketchup on the side!"        I am intending to live my dreams! I wanna take risks, I wanna learn, I wanna go round the world!      So, What in the world do YOU wanna do? :) I gotta live some lives, live some dreams, and make my cup overflow! so see ya!

College craziness

Hello Everyone!    Sorry I haven't clicked on the keyboard for a while, I got a boatload of classes and wait lists to sift through this semester!     In any case, I hope everyone is having a lovely springtime ( except for those who have the opposite seasons as us- see "Endless Summer" movie to get what I mean). I feel like this year may hold many new and different things betwixt it's pages, and I intend to make an epic year out of the end of the Mayan calendar! But stow the gab, this isn't NEW year anymore, its OLD AND DREARY year! :) I am taking a nice computer class ( programming using games and simulations), and algrebra 2, so if I post some simulations up here, then it means that I am doing well in the programming class! I know, two classes aren't hectic at all, but when your on the WAIT LIST it really is a pain!        I cleaned out my little "Flying Junior" sail boat, and I intend to sail it as far as I can! Not t...

Ice Hotel

Image
If you ever take a travel to the sub zero climate zones, such as Scandinavia, Norway, Finland, Russia, Sweden etc. then be sure to take a tour of the "Ice Hotel's"! One of the most famous of the these   is situated in the village Jukkasjärvi, Sweden, 12 km from Kiruna Airport. Every year seasonally they build it by the river, carving massive blocks of ice and snow, turning it into walls and and windows and ceiling... they even make the tables and beds and  chandeliers out of ICE!!!        They give tours and rent some of the spacious rooms for a night, up to 2,400 SEK for one night and one adult! They have different living situations  an Ice "suite" an Ice "room"  and a "snow room" all furnished with high thermal sleeping bags and reindeer skins, chairs and other fascinating objects. Below is an Ice "Suite",Ice "room", and their "Snow Room".                   Below are different pic...

The simple things in life

The simple things in life can bring the greatest joy, a sense of fulfillment in the rat race of the world. Sometimes it can be the satisfaction of unnecessary labor, carving spoons and forks out of tree branches or maybe even putting stone slabs into the earth for a path instead of pouring concrete. But yesterday in particular I had one of the most memorable times in my life... being crazy with a group of friends, with everyone owning the dance floor and waving cheap light sticks around... no dance style judgments just be yourself dancing! :) We didn't need a fancy dance floor, we didn't need fancy food, we didn't need glamour or fancy clothing, we were just there, happy and content with the simplest thing, a good group of friends who shared similar interests.       From playing a simple Celtic tune on a funky plastic recorder, to rock hopping down at the creek, or watching a wood pecking boring a hole in a tree,  even the smallest hint of...

How to draw cylinders, squares/rectangles

Image
Hello people round the globe!          I know that many of you might not be interested in drawing 2d and 3d objects, but believe me- its a great help when your taking math classes!!     We'll start with 2d squares and rectangles.          Before you start, making realistic squares takes a good ruler and getting the angle right! Squares drawn with a curvy angle can be funny to draw as well.

So I was a bit off (and the woes of Writers Block")

So I was wrong in my recent post "electrolysis of water"  ( which sounds pretty bad to me). The reaction is actually called Hydrolysis!!! Wow, pretty bad mistake... Anyways I am changing the Post's name to "Hydrolysis Reaction". So don't be fooled, it's not a new post! :)     Sometimes when your writing posts you lose the inspirational charisma and it becomes a dead end for a while... then you make a new post and manage to finish off the old one. This is called "Writers Block!" and some stories can be the "point of no return" if you can't return to the story later and actually write something! If you are very adept at word fluency, and your mind creates sentencing much like talking to a really good friend, then you are on the right track! For me, it's all too easy to come up with an amazing story and a crazy plot, and just be unable to continue halfway through. A friend of mine suggests a very excellent idea! "Bridging t...

Improvoso Writing Contest!

Hello Everyone!                Today I decided to pick up that forgotten moth eaten rug of improv story writing, and give it a better go. My first post on that didn't go so well, and I have greater expectations!      Instead, the improvisation will be a beginner paragraph... don't have to finish a story or even write one! Just simply put together a paragraph of intrigue and suspense.          I will be more vague, and hopefully my thought will form a lot better around the idea... AND NO TIME LIMIT! If you want good writing, you want time.       The general line : Midnight, somewhere on earth ( you pick) , and some form of unimaginable danger awaiting.             You noticed that I put "writing contest" in the title bar.        Here is where that comes into play! If any of you ...

Hydrolysis Reaction

I know that many believe that the majority of the atmosphere's oxygen comes from plants. I do not deny that plants make oxygen, but I do question whether they make enough to keep the world alive.      I want to make a very blazing point across the page! Plants making enough oxygen for the whole world is just ONE of MANY THEORIES!!!! It's not a proven fact...           The only thing proven is that plants make oxygen... but in turn they also use oxygen.       I am going to quickly analyze how plants make oxygen.    Plants are able to synthesize food directly from carbon dioxide, water, and using energy from light. In certain plants  (algae and cyanobacteria) photosynthesis releases oxygen. This is called oxygenic photosynthesis.   There is only one problem.... Plants create equal amounts of oxygen and co2!! But if we look at the percentage of co2 and oxygen in the atmospher...

Creepy cold spell

Hey everyone!     I know that Cold fronts and such things aren't usually eery or anything, but I have to admit that the one we just had was set in a minor key. For starters we had a beautiful sunny winter and a full three weeks of warm 70 degree temperatures... Whereas last year we had a massive rain squall that flooded Capitola Village and undermined lots of railroad.     Right after all the nice weather this winter came a freak cold spell going into the 20's and a bitter cold wind. Down the coast a little in Big Sir it was raining  icicles colder than snow! Four or five days ago in Santa Cruz there were lots of flourishing banana trees. And then we drove by all of them and they were not even green.... just plain dried up like they had been in a desert or something. I was just looking out my window and then I was like " Wait a minute, weren't those banana tree's green yesterday??!"  And then we drove by a ton of annual flowers that had ...
